CuriOdyssey (September 25, 2011)

Now that T is taking one nap a day in the early afternoon, we need to have a morning activity to occupy our time. Since Daddy was on call over the weekend, Mommy decided to take T down to CuriOdyssey in San Mateo.

When we left the house it was cold and drizzly and Mommy almost turned the car around. But, she decided that there wasn't much else to do so she kept on driving. And good thing she did. In true Bay Area weather oddness it was warm and sunny down south (only 20 minutes away).

CuriOdyssey is a science and nature exploration place that teaches kids about the habitat in this area. They have some animals (bobcats, coyotes, frogs (which we didn't see because Mommy doesn't like them), otters, etc.) as well as interactive play stations.

Here's T learning about the fog.


T's favorite was a wind machine that taught how things of different shapes and sizes get swept away. We must have spent a good fifteen minutes there putting various foam pieces in a tube with air.





We also had fun watching the really active otters who came up close.

T even sat for a bit to have a snack and watch the little guys (a big deal since he is not much of a sitter).


And, of course, T loves anything that involves water and sand and so he hung out at the "how a creek works" exhibit for awhile.


Just a couple of hours here and T was tired and we headed home for nap. The place was the perfect amount of fun for a Mommy and T morning.

Habitot in Berkeley (September 28, 2011)

Mommy and Daddy finally decided it was time for a new mattress. The one that they have is sagging and much too soft. Since the mattress store is in Berkeley, we decided to throw in a little bit of fun for T - a play space called Habitot.

It wasn't very big, but there was plenty to do. There was a space ship exhibit, an art space, grocery store, water area and a wind "tunnel" with fall leaves. Although he was scared for a brief moment, T's favorite was the wind tunnel where he got to rake the leaves and throw them in the air.





He also had fun at the shuttle command, pushing all sorts of buttons and trying to use 2 phones at once.


If we have any reason to be out in that area again, we'll definitely be going back. :)

Mommy's Future Helper

A funny thing happened this morning. While Daddy and Mommy were getting ready for work, T ran off to do something. Mommy heard a door so she thought T closed himself into the bathroom and went to check on him. She was completely wrong. T had dragged the laundry basket to the washer and dryer closet, opened the door, and was trying to load our dirty laundry into the washer.

The kid is paying more attention to things then we realize and learning all sorts of things everyday. :)

Go Giants (Go Mets)!

T went to his first baseball game last Sunday (July 10) at AT&T Park. It was between the Giants and the NY Mets. If it were any other game, he would have been sporting Giants gear, but, as it was against the Mets, well, Mommy had to put T in his Mets Jersey (and she wore her Mets cap).




T is obviously clueless about the game of baseball and is much too restless to watch a game, but he had fun cheering when the crowd went wild and enjoyed the food. =)
And, thanks to Auntie Leslie and Uncle Mike, we got to watch the game in one of the suites. Not shabby for T's first game. Thanks, guys, for the invite!

More Discovery, This Time in San Jose

After our extremely fun trip to the Discovery Museum in Sausalito with The Posse, Mommy and Daddy decided to take Tyler to the San Jose Children's Discovery Museum on June 25th (yes, we are behind on posts). It was a hit!

We started off by exploring the mammoth exhibit where T got to dig for bones.



Anything that involves sand will keep the little guy occupied for quite some time.

Next, we went to "The Wonder Cabinet" which is a space for kids 4 and under. Again, T got to play with sand and probably spent a good 30 minutes there.



There was also a place to paint, but it wasn't as fun as in Sausalito so T wasn't really into that. There was also a wall maze that worked with air and plastic balls which he really enjoyed but we don't seem to have a picture of him playing there. Oh well. I am sure we have a video of it and one of these days Daddy will put together something.

Next up was the best space of all - "The Waterways." As you might know by now, Tyler LOVES playing in/with water. So, of course, he was OBSESSED with this space. Towards the end he was so wet that he was shivering, but he still refused to leave.





After we got him dry, we played around with this circular thing that you put coins in. The coin spins and spins before falling down the hole. T thought it was the coolest thing.



The day ended with a little running around outside and a nap in the car on the way home. It was a fun day and we'll definitely be going back.

Brother, Onisan, Kuya

Soon, our little T won't be the baby of the family anymore... he's going to be a big brother! We're expecting a girl (yay for pink!) who's due around November 17th. She'll take take over as the baby of our family and Tyler will (hopefully) very smoothly take on the role of big brother ("Onisan" in Japanese, "Kuya" in Tagalog). We are really excited for the addition and can't wait to watch Tyler take on his new role. =)
