Emma's Preschool Opening Ceremony

Emma will be starting at Sora Japanese Preschool this week. She is in the "hiyoko" (chick) class.

Her official school days are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-1130am, but she was asked to attend the Japanese Club the other mornings of the week because at her interview the interviewers determined that she was already more proficient in English. Yes - she was "interviewed" at 18 months old. The interview consisted of flash cards, pegs and shape sorters. Pretty intense.

The school is very Japanese which makes me nervousness, but I think she will learn a lot. The hope is that as she starts to speak in Japanese, Tyler will also be encouraged to learn.

Today she had her opening ceremony. It was short, she cried, but then seemed ok by the time we were leaving. The kids came into the room, received their little books for stickers, found their cubbies, sang a song, and read a book. It was cute.

Christian and I think she will cry for about a week, but maybe she will surprise us. We'll see.

Here she is walking in. There are 5 kids in the class (2 boys and 3 girls). One of the kids wasn't there today.

Standing in front of the sign for the opening ceremony. This was taken after the event. She seems fine, right?

Chalone 2013

We did out annual Chalone trip from July 12 - 14 this year. It was a fun weekend. All the kids played well, swam a lot, and grown ups even had some grown up time.

I think this could really become a yearly thing.

Emma and a Marker

She was fussy so I gave Emma a (washable) marker and some paper to scribble with while we went to pick T up from summer camp. This is what she looked like by the time we got there.

Drop Off Fail

I tried to leave Emma at the gym's child care space. I thought she might work it out if Tyler was with her. He even said he'd take care of her.

15 minutes into my workout the child care person came to get me - she wouldn't stop crying. She actually cried all the way home. Tyler was off doing his own thing. I think he'd given up on her and decided to go play.

Tough kid. I'm not sure what's going to happen when she starts school on 3 weeks.... She's not going to like it.

Boy Will Be Boys

The boys of The Posse had a lunch date today at Amici's.  They love each other.  They hugged a lot and even kissed a lot.  These kids are more than just friends - they are family.  =)

After we ate, we took them outside to run around and they had the best time racing each other over and over again.  I don't even know how many times they ran back and forth.

Tyler needs to learn to not to false start....

They were in such a good mood they even agreed to stand side by side for photos.

Yup - they are standing in front of trash cans.  We used the 3 colors as the finish line for each kid.  Of course, they also had a blast playing with them.  Gross.

And here's a picture of them trying to jump simultaneously.

Can't help but always think of how fast they are growing up...
