Sunday Funday

We had a fun, family day in San Mateo today. First, we checked out Central Park. It had a nice playground and a little train.

There's also a small Japanese garden with a koi pond. The kids liked the koi, especially Emma.

We then walked over to Talbots to play with toys, test out bicycles, and buy Emma a helmet. Emma loved the little doll house. She thought she was a doll. (See other post for video).

After spending some time at Talbots (we walked away with just the helmet - amazing), we had lunch at a nice, Mediterranean restaurant.

I was pretty impressed with all that downtown San Mateo has to offer. It was a nice, relaxing Sunday morning.

She Thinks She is Doll Size

We stopped by Talbots, the toy store in San Mateo, today. There are all sorts of things there for the kids to play with including little doll sets.

Can you figure out what Emma is trying to so in this video? It's pretty funny. (Clues - there are 2 chairs, a table and a little cat).

Park Day

To celebrate Rayan and Tita Lena's birthdays there was a BBQ at Duboce Park.

The weather was incredible and the kids had a blast running around, playing at the playground, and getting some grown up attention.

Emma thought she was Superwoman

And found the courage to hang out with unfamiliar people (Anthony)

Tyler got grown ups to play duck duck goose with him

And the two kids had a blast sharing diluted juice (they probably felt so lucky that they got a big bottle of juice)

Thankfully both kids took a nap on the way there so were able to hang out the rest of the day without much grouchiness.

Seeing T sleeping in the car today reminded me that even though he seems so big (talking, opinionated, super mobile, etc), he's not even 4 and just a small kid. :)

Tyler's First Day of Preschool

Tyler started at Merry Moppet Preschool in Belmont today. He is in the "Older 3s" class with Ms. Brandi and her assistants Ms. Jessica and Ms. Audrie.

The morning was a rocky start. T was in a bad mood. First day of school jitters? In any case, he was whiny and needy, but managed to get out the door. It helped that Daddy took the day off so that he could be there to drop him off and also see the school for the first time.

We first dropped Emma off at her school so she wasn't with us to drop T off, but starting tomorrow she will be dropping him off with Mommy everyday.

T was on and off excited. When we arrived at the school he would walk away and play but then come back to cling.

Here are a couple of pictures of him exploring his new classroom.

When we returned to pick him up he was off playing. We spoke with his teacher, Ms. Brandi, who said he had one small confrontation with a girl over a toy but handled it well and kept his temper. Not bad.

T had mixed reviews about his first day. Most of the other kids are full day students and when I mentioned this to him he said he wanted to be there all day as well. But then changed his mind. He said it was fun and then said it wasn't.

At least there were no tears. :)

I think he is going to do fine in the long run and love going to school.

Soccer, Maybe?

I was surprised to see that T could dribble kick a soccer ball. Apparently, Daddy taught him for a little bit and then he picked it up. I think that maybe we should try him out for soccer.
