Green Smooties

We are trying to eat a little healthier in the Cruz household. Less processed foods, meats, and more fruits and vegetables.

In are quest to consume more fruits and veggies, we've started to blend it into smoothies. We don't have a set recipe, but we usually put in a banana, frozen strawberries, frozen mangoes, carrots, spinach and/or kale and chia seeds. Surprisingly, T hasn't been turned off by them at all. He's loving them. Emma hasn't pushed them away, but she's not that interested (yet). Yay for fruits and vegetables!

Wonder Kids at the Little Gym

Tyler had a trial session at The Little Gym today. It was a four hours drop off class. I was worried about how he would handle drop off because it hasn't always gone well, but he did great. He barely turned back once we were there. Maybe it's because he's older, or because we talked it up so much, but in any case he was still in good spirits when we picked him up.

Here he is at drop off

YouTube Video

The teacher said he was working on sharing, but overall had a good time. He even went poop at school - he's good at going when he has to go. :). And he even at all of his lunch.

We signed him up for the remaining sessions. There are 5 more. Then they will start running summer camps. Maybe we'll sign him up or those too.

While T was in school, I took Emma to the park to play with Emi, William and Miya. It's was a beautiful morning in the Bay Area.

Potty Training Update

I'm not sure "training" is the right word to be using since T is sort of taking the lead on using the potty, but regardless... Things are going well for the most part. His accidents happen because he waits too long so that we get to potty a little too late. What we are working on is timing.

T has been waking up in the middle of the night to use the potty as well as in the morning. A few mornings we didn't make it because I was too fast asleep to hear him over the monitor and we have a device on this doorknob so that he can't get out of his room. Actually, I should say we had a device.

Yesterday he woke up in the morning and had to poop. I didn't hear him and got to him too late. He was so upset with himself even though it wasn't his fault, it was mine. So, we decided it was time to let him open his door so he can come out to get us if he needs to.

How did the first night go? He showed up in our room around 1230am. He went potty and straight back to bed. Then he woke up at 530am and asked to sleep in our bed. I said yes so I could go back to sleep but we are going to have to stop that. It's a slippery slope.

Hopefully, soon enough, he will be able to go all by himself without waking us. I wonder when that will happen. Soon?

Farmer Emma

We took advantage of the amazing weather and went to the zoo today.

We spent most of our time in the farm/petting area. Tyler loved feeding the goats and sheep (he really likes to feed animals) and Emma really liked the ducks (but was frightened of the goats and sheep). She also found a tractor to ride around in. She's a very serious farmer. :)

Emma at The Little Gym

Feeling our little lady hasn't had exposure to classes and such the way her brother had by the time he was her age, we decided to have Anna take her to The Little Gym for a trial class. It's walking distance to home so a perfect spot for them to go together.

T and I dropped them off this morning and snooped around a little before we headed off to My Gym. Both are similar, but T has been going to My Gym for a long time now and enjoys it there so we'll stick to it.

Anna said that Emma had a good time. And from what we saw it looked like she did too.

Can you spot her in these pictures?

While Anna and Emma were at The Little Gym, T and I had a good time at My Gym and then went out for lunch nearby at Piccino. The soup and thin crust pizza were delicious.

Emma's turn at Music Together

From when Emma was born, I had planned to spend one on one time with her once a week when Anna is here. One day a week was meant to be for T and the other for Emma. But since she was on a 2 nap schedule it was hard to find activities that worked. We tried My Gym but she kept sleeping too long in the mornings and we kept missing class. So, I decided to wait.

She had finally transitioned to one nap so I decided it was time to do something. By the time T was her age now he has done a lot of "socializing." Poor Emma has been deprived.

I found a Music Together class at the Millbrae library so we checked it out today. It's a program that T did for awhile and enjoyed and since Emma has been into music and dancing recently I figured she would too.

It's a 45 minute class. She stuck to me for a good 35 minutes.

I think she's naturally wary of people (she freaks when the door bell rings) and add the lack of experience that she's had with group settings I'm surprised she warmed up in the last few minutes at all.

These pics are from the last part of class. Couldn't take any before since she was clinging to me.

We're going to sign up for the full session. Hopefully she'll come out of her shell.

I'm Pooping

She hasn't pooped for over a day and got some prune juice this morning. This is the look that prune juice creates.

This is what she looks like when she's done.

And this is what it looks like from the back.
